Prabhupada's Point Gathering Report

At Prabhupada's Point, over a dozen devotees came together, had kirtan and honored prasadam with the intent to discuss and move forward in the direction towards self sustainability. We discussed many different ideas to generate income by using what Krsna has given us on this land.

Here at Prabhuapda's point , the land is unique in many ways, from rock cliffs and caves that have been utilized for building kirtan lodges, rustic barns built from the materials on our land, to a lush forest that gives home to many varieties of herbs such as golden seal and comfry. Prabhupada's point offers a unique opportunity for devotees to execute Srila Prabhuapdas instructions regarding simple living and high thinking in many practical and fun ways.

"Some of the activites we are involved in include tapping maple trees and making maple syrup, building rocking chairs out of hickory saplings that grow on the land, working the greenhouse in which we grow vegetables and herbs and also utilizing our sawmill in which we mill up our own lumber."

"We are trying to set a practical example that making a living can go hand and hand with following Srila Prabhuapda's instructions regarding simple living high thinking, without sacrificing our consciousness"

  2. Sounds like you are on the money! I have the same feeling about viability in material eyes to some extent. Perhaps this is the way the Prabhupad wants to attract people. In a way they can relate to and also it is important that devotees show this intelligent step for the simple lifestyle which is sustainable and close to nature.
We would love to join you if there is room...At the moment I am networkin for a possible spanish project along similar lines, only so far we are the only devotees to show interest..5 miles of valley. All to do. I am 54 and am thinking apart from networking my seva is more kids and kitchen..and we are tired form lack of association so perhaps we should come to you first.
